Alaska Population Outstripping U.S. Growth

The State says Alaska’s population grew by 3.7 percent, outstripping the national growth of just 2.4 percent.


From 2010 to 2013, Alaska gained 26,168 people through natural growth (the number of births less the number of deaths) and immigration. The Kenai Peninsula was the fifth fastest-growing area, with 1,462 new residents. The fastest-growing was Anchorage (9,308), followed by the Mat-Su (7,079), Fairbanks (2,051), and Juneau (1,789).
