With a recent change in FAA regulations, Alaska Airlines has confirmed that electronics can be used on their flights operated by Horizon Air.
The airline said electronic devices can be used in all phases of flights, though they must be on “airplane” mode. Cells phones may not be used to make calls.
Laptops and other large electronics must still be stowed during takeoff and landing, for safety reasons.WiFi connections are allowed once the plane reaches 10,000 ft.
Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing said: “We’re thrilled to have FAA approval giving our customers the flexibility and better onboard experience they want.”
The change went into effect last weekend. Alaska Airlines expects to approve electronics on their flights operated by SkyWest as soon as the FAA grants approval.
