The recent cloud cover and moisture has prompted the Division of Forestry to lift the afternoon restriction that was in place for open burning. We spoke to Sharon Roesch from the local Forestry office earlier in the week.
She said, generally, theKenai Peninsula’s overall fire danger is in the moderate range. However, she is reminding everyone to watch out for strong winds. Once the winds increase, those with permits are restricted from using them until the winds die down. On Wednesday, Kenai residents were not being allowed to burn due to their strong winds.
Those who live in Kenai need to get their permits from the Kenai Fire Department.
