ADF&G: Early Red Run Looks Good

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is continuing to see good indications for the local Sockeye Salmon fisheries. We spoke to Robert Begich, a sport fisheries biologist with the Soldotna office of Fish and Game…

Begich: “The early run Sockeye salmon showed up on time, as usual, just before Memorial Day in the lower Kenai River. They are at least on time if not early; the Russian River had a good supply for their opener.”

Begich did note that due to the late spring this year, the water is running higher in the Russian River area.
