Active Not Charged For Death of 91-year-old

Jerry Active won’t be held responsible for the death of a 91-year-old woman whom he allegedly assaulted last May.

A report from the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage revealed the woman, identified as Y.P., died of a stroke after she was sexually assaulted. Since the cause of death was natural, the District Attorney has decided not to pursue murder charges.

The incident is part of a larger case against the 24-year-old Anchorage resident, who is facing ten felony charges after it’s alleged he broke into a Mountain View home, sexually assaulted the elderly woman and a two-year-old girl and murdered the girl’s grandparents, 71-year-old¬†Touch Chea and his wife, 73-year-old Sorn Sreap.

If convicted of first degree murder, Active will serve up to 99 years in prison. If he’s also convicted of first degree sexual assault, Active could face an additional 40 to 60 years.

Active has a history of alcohol abuse and has been in and out of police custody since he was a teenager.
