Accident As Pickup Passes Semi on the Left

A 20-year-old Soldotna man caused minor damage to two vehicles as he attempted an improper pass in a construction zone.


Around 12:30pm yesterday, Zackery Lee Morgan-Waters was driving his pickup north on the Seward Highway around mile 95 when he was stuck behind a semi (driven by  28-year-old Trapper Creek resident Sheyanne Elizabeth Strong.


According to State Troopers, Strong was attempting to make a left turn into a southbound side pull-out. Morgan-Waters attempted an improper pass on the left side of the truck. The left front corner of the semi-truck struck the right rear corner area of the pickup truck.


Both vehicles sustained minor damage, the pickup truck was towed from the scene. Morgan-Waters was issued a traffic citation for the crash.
