There are still a few statewide legislative races to be decided as absentee ballots are set to be counted today. We spoke to Gail Fenumiai, Director of the State Division of Elections

Fenumiai: “At approximately, 35,000 absentee ballots that are ready to be counted on November 13th, as well as, question ballots that we will have numbers for, and those ballots will be counted again on the 13th of November. With the target certification date, we’re shooting for December 3rd.”

There are still a few close races throughout the state, in west Anchorage, Senator Hollis French has a 253-vote leaded over former Anchorage Assembly member Bob Bell, a margin of less than 2%..

East Anchorage Representative Lance Pruitt leads Representative Pete Peterson by less than 100-votes, making a 1.5% margin.

Southeast Representative Bill Thomas of Hanes appears to be losing his seat by just 43-votes to challenger Jona Kreiss-Tomkins of Sitka.
