Borough Residents Against Annexation are increasing their efforts as promised after the Soldotna City Council allocated $50,000 for an annexation study.
Tara Kain said their first big move will be a float in Soldotna’s Progress Days Parade.
Kain: “There are a lot of people against that and what we’re looking to do is get out there and let people know that our group is there and raise awareness and let people know what we’re doing and that we do oppose annexation.”
Recently Soldotna Mayor Nels Anderson and other council members have said the city is not necessarily interested in annexing residential lands.
We asked Kain if the group is opposed to just residential annexation or all annexation.
Kain: “Likely most of the members in the group are opposed to any kind of annexation, whether it’s residential or commercial because it does affect everybody and they are opposed to it overall.”
She said the group is planning other efforts to continue increasing awareness of their opposition to annexation as well.
