Troopers Chase Speeding Wasilla Man

A 31-year-old Wasilla man led State Troopers on a chase along Funny River Road which ended at the base of a broken power pole.

The unidentified driver was reported as driving erratically just before 1am Sunday. He failed to stop for Troopers at mile 13 of Funny River Road and a chase ensued. Speeds  ranged from 45 to 65 miles per hour, until the vehicle turned onto York Street, lost control and drove off the right side of the roadway.

The man collided with a power pole, breaking the pole about 3 feet off the ground. The line remained intact, but HEA crews were called to repair the damage.

The driver was unresponsive when contacted, and alcohol was involved in the incident. He was taken to CPH.
