69-year-old Soldotna Woman Crashes into Anchor River

Tuesday evening, just after 5:00pm, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a motor vehicle collision at mile 162 of the Sterling Highway in Anchor Point.

Subsequent investigation revealed 69-year-old April Williams of Soldotna was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon southbound on the highway when she lost control of the vehicle.

She crossed the northbound lane of travel. At that time, she crashed through the guard rail. The vehicle stopped in the Anchor River.

The collision was witnessed by an Alaska Wildlife Trooper who stopped and was able to get Williams out of the vehicle.

Williams reported wearing her seat belt and was uninjured.

She was issued citation for Basic Speed.
